From Silverstone 1950 to today. Who created F1, how it evolved, its greatest champions and darkest moments.
Formula 1 is the highest level of car racing in the world. 20 drivers from 10 teams race at circuits across 5 continents. The fastest cars on earth — reaching 350 km/h (220 mph).
Points are given to the top 10 finishers: 25 for 1st, 18 for 2nd, 15 for 3rd... down to 1 point for 10th. The driver with the most points wins the World Championship.
Each Grand Prix weekend has 3 parts. Friday: Practice. Saturday: Qualifying (fastest lap = pole position = starts first). Sunday: The Race.
6 races this season have a Sprint — a shorter race on Saturday before qualifying. Sprint finishers earn bonus points. It's chaotic, fast, and great to watch.
Each team builds its own car and enters 2 drivers. Teams also compete for the Constructors' Championship. In 2026: 11 teams including new entries Audi and Cadillac.
During the race, drivers come into the pit lane to change tyres. A pit stop takes around 2–3 seconds. Strategy matters — when you pit can win or lose a race.
🟡 Yellow = Danger ahead, slow down. 🔴 Red = Race stopped. 🏁 Checkered = Race over. 🔵 Blue = Let a faster car pass. Black = You're disqualified.
The biggest rule changes in years. New engines, new car designs, 100% sustainable fuel. That's why the standings look different — teams that dominated before had to start over.
